Seminar on “Disaster Management and Recovery”

The National Issues Committee, in collaboration with the Seminars, Workshops and Programmes Committee, conducted a seminar on 'Disaster Management and Recovery,' scheduled for 21st January at the OPA auditorium.

The event featured Prof. Dilanthi Amaratunga, Professor in Disaster Risks and Climate Resilience, Loughborough University, UK, Mr. Prabath Chandrakeerthi, Commissioner General of Essential Services, Mr. Chathura Liyanaarchchi, Director Preparedness, Disaster Management Centre and Mr. Chinthaka Rathnasiri, Director, Human Settlements, Planning and Training Division, National Building Research Organization as guest speakers.

The seminar was conducted very successfully, attracting the participation of over 100 members of the OPA, and generated insightful discussions on key issues related to disaster management and recovery.

Building on the outcomes of the seminar, a brainstorming session will be held at a later stage to consolidate the ideas and recommendations presented, with the objective of preparing a comprehensive and well-structured concept paper for submission to the relevant authorities.
