Seminar on Construction Arbitration: Contractual Frameworks and Dispute Resolution Mechanism

Construction & Other Industry Committee in collaboration with the Law & Order and OPA Constitutional Amendments Committee, as well as the Seminars, Workshops & Programmes Committee of OPA, hosted a seminar titled “Construction Arbitration: Contractual Frameworks and Dispute Resolution Mechanism.” This event brought together professionals from the construction, engineering, architecture, and legal sectors to discuss the growing importance of arbitration in resolving disputes within construction projects. The seminar focused on how well-structured contracts and effective legal frameworks could help prevent conflicts and ensure smoother project execution.

The seminar was held on 22nd July 2026 at 6.00 p.m. at the OPA Auditorium in Colombo 07, and was followed by a dinner, providing an opportunity for networking and professional engagement.

A distinguished panel of speakers shared their expertise and practical insights. The lineup included Hon. Sanjay Rajaratnam PC, former Attorney General of Sri Lanka; Dr. Sunil Abeyaratne, Attorney-at-Law and Chairman of the Law & Order and OPA Constitutional Amendments Committee; Archt. Rukshan Widyalankara, Past President of the Sri Lanka Institute of Architects and the Commonwealth Association of Architects; and Eng. (Maj) Ranjith Gunatilleke, Group CEO and Managing Director of Sanken Construction (Pvt) Ltd. The session was moderated by Archt. Dilummini De Mel, a Chartered Architect, President of SLIA, and Member of the OPA Executive Council.
