Brainstorm Session on “Pathways to Energy Indep.: Advancing Renewable Energy for Env. and Economic Sust.”
The Organisation of Professional Associations (OPA) the Environment and Agriculture Committee chaired by Mr. Ajith Gunasekera, successfully conducted a brainstorming session on “Pathways to Energy Independence: Advancing Renewable Energy for Environmental and Economic Sustainability” on 11th May 2026 at the OPA Auditorium.
The event was inaugurated by the President-Elect, Mr. Tisara De Silva, who highlighted the importance of energy security, sustainability, and innovation for Sri Lanka’s future development.
The session was graced by distinguished resource persons: Prof. T. M. Wijendra J. Bandara (SLSEA), Mr. G. M. R. D. Aponsu (Ministry of Energy), Mr. Pubudu Niroshan (CEB), Eng. Anuruddha Tilakaratne (NTNSP Pvt Ltd), Mr. Chandana Wijayasinghe (Ministry of Power and Energy), Mr. K. G. C. Jayasekara (SLSEA), Mr. Kushan Jayasooriya (Alpha Solar Energy Systems), and Mr. Pathmanatha Podiwela (Federation of Renewable Energy Developers).
The session aimed to develop practical recommendations for Sri Lanka’s renewable energy transition and policy formulation. The OPA appreciates the valuable contributions of all speakers and participants.
